Heat service
24 hour emergency plumber in NYC
Nights, weekends, holidays. A dispatcher, not a voicemail, answers 646-980-2411 and sends a licensed plumber to Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan. Burst pipes, floods, no heat, no hot water, sewer backups, gas smells.
What counts as an emergency
If any of these is happening, call now. We will tell you what to shut off while the truck is on the way.
Burst or leaking pipe
Water running where it should not. Close the main shutoff if you can reach it, then call.
Sewer backup
Sewage at a floor drain, tub or toilet. Stop using water in the building.
No heat in heat season
Boiler down between October 1 and May 31. For landlords this is a Class C violation; we treat it as an emergency.
No hot water
Water heater failed. 40, 50 and 75 gallon tanks are on the truck for same-day replacement.
Gas smell
Leave the building, call 911 or Con Edison at 1-800-752-6633 from outside, then call us for the repair.
Frozen pipes, overflowing toilet, failed sump pump
Anything that is actively causing damage or will by morning.
How an emergency call works
You call. The dispatcher takes the address, the problem and the best number to reach you, and tells you what to shut off. A plumber calls you from the road with an arrival time. On arrival the plumber stops the damage first, then diagnoses, then gives you a written price before repair work starts. Most emergency repairs are finished on the first visit because the trucks carry the parts that fail at night: water heaters, expansion tanks, circulators, thermocouples, igniters, relief valves, shutoff valves, pipe and fittings.
We do not charge a different rate for the same repair at 2 a.m. than at 2 p.m. There is an after-hours dispatch fee, stated on the phone before anyone is sent.
Same-day and weekend service also covers non-emergencies: if the water heater is limping along and you would rather replace it Saturday than wait, that is a same-day plumber call too.
Before we arrive
- Find the main water shutoff and close it for any leak
- For sewage, stop all water use in the building
- For no heat, do not reset a locked-out boiler more than once
- For a gas smell, leave first, call from outside
- Take photos; they help the plumber and your insurance
- Clear a path to the boiler, heater or leak

Questions
Do you have a plumber available right now?
Yes. GW Mechanical Corp dispatches 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, across Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan. A dispatcher answers the phone and gives you an arrival window on the call.
How fast can an emergency plumber get to me?
Typically within one to two hours anywhere in the four boroughs, faster for floods and gas-related calls. The dispatcher gives you a realistic window based on where the nearest truck is.
Is there an extra charge for after-hours service?
There is an after-hours dispatch fee, which the dispatcher tells you before a plumber is sent. The repair itself is priced the same as during the day, in writing, before work starts.
What should I do while I wait?
Close the main water shutoff for leaks, stop using water for sewer backups, do not keep resetting a locked-out boiler, and for a gas smell leave the building and call 911 or Con Edison from outside.
Do you handle emergency plumbing in apartment buildings?
Yes, including coordination with the super or management, and documentation for HPD heat and hot water complaints.
